On the evening of April 16, during Thingyan (Water Festival) the drunken yob officials rampaged around the town pushing and swearing at the civilians. They made the mistake of picking a fight with a group of local youths.

When they were soundly thrashed by the local lads, one of the officials scuttled back to his base bringing back fully armed and uniformed troops to arrest the 8 youths. The local boys were arrested at gun-point and taken back to the miltary camp to be tortured.

One of State Peace and Development Council's 'marketing' slogans has been,'The Military Is Our Mother, The Military Is Our Father', to remind the people of Burma of how honourable and respectable the Myanmar Military is. As an example of the honourable and respectable military, the 'officials'of LIB 514 have done an excellent job of showing us all the opposite; of how truly abject and cowardly these strutting and arrogant Military 'officials' actually are!
