Turned Up Late For Forced Labour ? You Are Fired

Aung Lwin
Peace and Development Council Chairman
Numkum Township
Northern Shan Shate

On 4th May, Aung Lwin summoned one person per household for labour needed to prepare wild land for a plantation of castor oil, a much hated project imposed on the population by military government all over the country.

Three days later, Sai Hla, the quarter PDC chairman , was removed from his position , for missing the first day of the forced labour sessions.

"He (Aung Lwin)is a bully alright but this is the worst case. Sai Hla was one day late to report and that was taken as lack of respect."
